Massachusetts Institute of Technology

15 years of creativity and collaboration.

Here at 43,000 Feet, we’ve made a habit of building long-lasting partnerships with clients committed to doing work that makes the world a better place. Our relationship with MIT is an example of this deep collaboration in action. For more than 15 years, we’ve criss-crossed the MIT campus, leading workshops, sitting in on classes, and chatting with students, faculty, staff, donors, and partners. From the Chancellor’s Office to Global MIT, UROP to MISTI to Experiential Learning and back—we’ve produced work that runs the gamut from brand messaging, to website strategy and content development, training, workshops, and even a poster or two for MIT’s famous Infinite Corridor.

Office of the Chancellor

The Office of the Chancellor guides many aspects of the MIT experience, including residential life, athletics, clubs and activities, and health and wellness. To showcase these “softer” parts of MIT to donors and alumni, we created a messaging platform anchored by the theme line, We Make MIT, MIT. We developed a second theme, Here for the Whole You, which tells the same story, but speaks directly to MIT students.

MISTI

MISTI offers a dazzling array of global experiences for MIT students, including international internships, study abroad, and global teaching labs. Our charge: create clear messaging that organizes and explains these offerings, and demonstrates how they support MIT’s Mind and Hand motto. Our team used this messaging to develop nearly 50 pages of content for MISTI’s new website.

Office of Experiential Learning

The Office of Experiential Learning came to us for help promoting a new web platform that connects students with potential opportunities. We developed a poster and digital campaign that plays on the name of the platform (eLx) in a memorable, brainy, and very MIT way.

Global MIT

Whether bringing students from around the world to campus, or collaborating with international partners on research and discovery, MIT is committed to deep global engagement. We worked with MIT to create a messaging framework that explains how global engagement is core to delivering on its mission, and why—in today’s complex and uncertain world—the Institute’s commitment to fostering these connections is more important than ever.

UROP

MIT’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program gives any student the opportunity to be part of research happening at the Institute. We developed a messaging framework that articulates the what, how, and why of UROP, and used it to create content for a website that is one part compelling storytelling and one part nuts and bolts Getting Started guide.

CSF

MIT’s Community Service Fund raises money from MIT faculty and staff to fund non-profit initiatives and groups in and around Boston. They needed a clearer way to explain the benefits of its unique philanthropy model. The messaging strategy that we created makes both a practical and ideological case for supporting CSF, and features prominently across the group’s new brand and website.
