Shepley Bulfinch is a Boston-based architect with a 150-year history of challenging convention and pioneering change. Our charge: evolve the Shepley brand to communicate its commitment to technology, forward-thinking design, and collaborative client partnerships—positioning it as a firm where legacy has most certainly not led to complacency.

Working alongside the uber-cool team at Moth Design, we embarked on a journey of deep discovery, including staff interviews, peer analysis, a comprehensive review of of existing research, and visits to Shepley Bulfinch’s Houston and Phoenix offices (road trip!). From our discovery process, one theme rose to the top: Design beyond what’s expected. This simple, aspirational idea connotes reaching into the future, imagining ideas yet to be discovered, and a belief in the power of architecture to change lives. The concept anchored a comprehensive brand overhaul featuring an innovative logotype, new proposal system, social media strategy, and a website that leverages bold imagery and short bursts of content to tell the Shepley Bulfinch story in a way that’s anything but expected.
