The sprawling myHBS intranet provides students with important information on nearly every aspect of the Harvard Business School experience, from registering for classes, to resetting passwords, to using the gym. But after years of contributions from scores of different authors, the site had swelled to more than 800 difficult-to-navigate pages. myHBS needed to cut the fat, and quick.

Our partners at Moth Design led the way in developing a strategy for reorganizing HBS’s massive intranet. They proposed a shallow, search-based navigation structure, and internal processes for managing content creation and governance. Then we jumped in with a writing best practices guide and training session for HBS's internal content authors. From there, we mapped and rewrote the entire site to align with the new structure, a process that involved five writers, a dedicated project manager, and a Nespresso machine on overdrive.

The 800 page beast is now slim, streamlined, and just plain gorgeous.
